Day 7

:3 chocolate bunneh and a flower I got from the German piracy party.

yea, 7 days, and just 3 more days of training, it’s kinda scary.

At least I got banking and all other stuff done :) going to meet up with the lady I’m renting from tomorrow and get the keys etc.

Other than that, there’s been a couple of nice warm and sunny days, today was off course one of them :D

I’ve been walking around the city and gotten to know a couple of nice places, but my feets are hurting :(

I can’t wait to get my own pc back though! getting tired of this small keyboard :(

First post from germany :)

and since sunday I’ve learned a lot, been through 1/3rd of the training, and it’s a lot to learn, and it’s not as easy as I first thought :3

The awesome news is that I got an appartment already, and my german is picking up slowly :D

My mind  is going a bit back and forth right now, and back to the appartment, It’s just 20 minutes to walk from work :D

got phone stuff sorted as well, but I still have to fix up banking(tomorrow) and rathaus(on saturday), most things close like 16:30 or 18:00, I’m done at work 17:30!

I dunno how much time I have, but I will be trying to update once a week, maybe even twice :)

so cya until then (oh and sorry for no pics, but no cam and too tired to look for one)

Will move to Münster, so if you are around there, say hi! ._. always nice to know people where you are going :)

Only thing I’m thinking about is how to get my computers with me ._. Will figure that out some way though :)

also received a letter from the army, have to go in a year, to the air force :D it’s like Christmas, twice in a day :D

We all have heard of the iPad by now, and in short this is what I think about it:

Apple is a niche company, but this time they tried to hit a niche that is too small. the iPad is just simply too limited to become a success. Give us multitasking, then it might just do something good :)

and of course, my sis is blogging now, about being a mom for the first time :) and for english readers, a bad translation by google

Voddler

The Hunt for Red October by Kevin Labianco

I finally got an invite to Voddler I’d compare it with Spotify for videos.

I’ve only watched one film so far, but I love it, you don’t get access to all videos for free, but many, which is great.

I watched The Hunt for Red October which is fabulous, the quality seemed to be roughly dvd quality, which is good, only thing I got against voddler is that it displays ads for 5 minutes first, but I guess I should be happy it’s not 5 min first then 5 min in the middle :)

It’s been a while

Fireworks!

The fireworks in Oslo

So whats up, well, 2010 hit…

I’ve opened my own gallery local at the site with a bit more low-res pictures(high-res isn’t exactly always a good thing lol)

and I took a lot of pictures, click the picture on the left to visit the gallery :) the pictures will be available at dA as well in maximum res of course under the usual CC-by-nc-sa license.

Other than that, I want to give a little heads up about a nice webmaster forum, you might’ve seen me talk about it before.

Loving Tech, A lot have happened the past year here, It started almost a year ago(21st jan 09), and have grown to just about 1700 memebers, have over30 000 posts(!) and have some very dedicated members with lots of knowledge on all kinds of topics. I suggest you check it out and join in on the discussion.

In tech some nice things happened, Windows 7 was released, and made a grand entering(at least in my opinion) and proved that the vista move wasn’t that stupid. Other than that Apple came with the 3gs, and the iPod touch 3g, both with much faster and better hardware, which might be a good thing, we’ll see. There’s also been some leaks, most have probably heard about this already, Google is having their own phone that isn’t tied to any particular carrier in the us, which at least to my foreign head is a good thing(we’re used to it being like that :) )

On the coding side, I’ve learned perl, I’ve started(and quit) learning LISP, and are learning IO. I’ve coded a few thousand lines, mostly in C++ concerning hacking on Emerald, but also done about 5 000 lines in perl for my radio project which is shaping up on the back-end finally.

On my blogging I’ve been a bit too lazy though, I got 6 drafts which I’ve been writing some on, but I don’t have enough time to complete them, so as a product they might never be done, but I’ll try to complete them during 2010.

On the photo side, I’ve passed 10 000 pictures(!) on the pentax, the lucky picture was this:

Picture 10 000!

Picture 10 000!

Which was taken in Gibraltar :)

Take care and happy new year, and I hope you all will continue to enjoy my posts here :)

You Cant Stop Da Funk by Binärpilot

You Can't Stop Da Funk by Binärpilot

So Ubuntu Karmic Koala, 9.10 was released, and I was at the launch party in Oslo, hosted by Redpill Linpro.

been using it off a memory stick for a while(beta version) and installed the final today using wubi, and it’s pretty impressive.

and I got Google Wave, which I have to say is just as impressive as Ubuntu, so far only used it for chatting and solving sudoku, but getting started to write about it on a more practical view and see how, and what it can be used for, seen from a programmer, designer and/or webmaster’s point of view.

If you know any, or are yourself either of these, please message me: t…@g…e.com

This time it’s a full Album by the Norwegian band Binärpilot, click the image to get to the jamendo page and listen or download the entire album!

It’s licensed CC-by-nc-nd so share with your friends!

yea, I was busy trying to figure out why it didn’t work, while it turned out to be as simple as 123… back again, and I’m going to get some posts out the door when I get the time, today it’s Ubuntu release, so that will eat some time, and will prob qualify for a post (btw, I am posting from 9.10 already on a usb stick :D with all my apps and music!)

for all of you norwegian people:

sjekk ut stoppdld.no og la oss få stoppe Datalagringsdirektivet en gang for alle!

Yep, I finally(!) fixed the blog… and quite frankly, no idea why the fuck this happend…

so anyways, whats happend since Immersiva?

Not all that much… I’ve taken some more pictures, which I’ll get around posting on my deviant art page when I sort it all and fix up anything bad etc.

Other than that, my friend Othilicius moved to dundee(UK).

And I’m going to be more active on the Fribit front, both as a developer and fronting them a little.

I got a new phone, not that fancy but it works… A Sony Ericsson W980i

I’ve successfully killed 0 people in any game the past month(thank Secondlife for that lol) (oh and BZFlag as well, me totally failing at shooting, and Under a steel sky where I only get killed)

oh and we had a election here in Norway, and guess what, Venstre(liberals) failed epicly(damn them, I voted for you!) and we got the same damned goverment that I don’t like(except for the prime minister)

The Rabbicorn Immersiva exebition at IBM 3

The Rabbicorn Immersiva exhibition at IBM 3

“What are you?”
The boy said to her
The Rabbicorn thought
Then replied “I am not sure”

“Can I ride you
Like my bike?”
“I bet you could
If that’s what you’d like”

So he grabbed her horn
And climbed on her back
Pointed at her sister
And yelled “Attack!”

That how this scene starts, in the exhibition “The Rabbicorn” by Immersiva at IBM 3

The other day I was walking through IBM’s Sim in SL when I stumbled across this exhibition, called The Rabbicorn.

The maker Bryn Oh makes these kinds of stories in sl, as well as Machinimas. The point is to make a immerse experience for the viewer.

I was stunned over the visual quality of the scenes as well of the details, the story is just brilliant and it’s worth to join sl just for this.

You’ll find the exhibition here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/IBM%203/57/51/24

you’ll need SecondLife to view it, and I encourage you to join in.

Be quick though, the exhibition closes 1st September!

You can find me in SL under the name Thor Furuseth, drop by and say hi!
